Peterson Announces Intelligence Committee Inquiry
(WASHINGTON, DC) - U.S. Rep. Collin C. Peterson, a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence announced today that an agreement was reached for a joint House and Senate Intelligence Committee review of the U.S. intelligence community.
“We have agreed to a series of both public and closed meetings to discuss how the FBI and CIA operate and interact with each other as well as with other law enforcement agencies.”
According to Peterson, the focus of the inquiry will be on improving the effectiveness of intelligence work designed to reduce threats to the United States.
“I am pleased that we have agreed to focus on improving our protection efforts and not waste time trying to assign blame.”
The hearings are expected to continue throughout the summer months and into the fall.
