CONGRESSMAN PETERSON RECEIVES
"GUARDIAN OF SMALL BUSINESS" AWARD FROM NFIB

WASHINGTON, DC -- Congressman Collin C. Peterson (DFL-7th District) earlier this month received the "Guardian of Small Business" award from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB). Peterson was the only Democrat in the Minnesota delegation to receive this award.

"I started out with a small business of my own and I know how difficult it is for small businesses to deal with government red tape and regulations meant for big business," Peterson said. "I have worked hard to make regulations more friendly to small businesses."

The NFIB used 37 votes during the 104th Congress regarding small business issues to determine who would receive their Guardian of Small Business awards. These issues included balancing the federal budget, protecting small businesses from frivolous lawsuits, reducing the burden of government regulations and limiting taxes.

"I have worked to make these kinds of common sense changes because they are good for Minnesota, good for small business and good for the entire country," Peterson said.

NFIB is a non-profit, non-partisan organization which lobbies federal and state legislature on behalf of small business.
